BIGBANG officially hit the momentous 10-year milestone as of Aug. 19, and the group continues to prove that they’re truly the reigning kings of K-pop.
Last year, BIGBANG released their MADE series, a string of singles that form their third full-length Korean studio album when combined. The series won them numerous awards, and the documentary BIGBANG [MADE] that showed the behind-the-scenes efforts of their subsequent world tour was released in theaters on June 30, 2016. The tour itself broke multiple records, attracting 1.5 million fans and earning BIGBANG the honor of having the most attended Korean tour in history. You can catch a replay of the last concert on V Live.
In celebration of their anniversary, members G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri launched an additional mini-series of concerts titled “0.TO.10.” All four shows in Japan and South Korea sold out almost immediately, but the Seoul stop was especially impressive – 60,000 tickets snapped up within 30 minutes. Additional seats were later added due to the demand, and the total number of attendees came to be 230,000. The 65,000 fans at Seoul World Cup Stadium included a number of celebrities and helped BIGBANG break yet another record for having the most admissions at a K-pop solo concert.
Additionally, a special art exhibition in Seoul called “A TO Z” will be open from early August to October 30, 2016, and two more highly anticipated anniversary projects are still left to be revealed. V.I.Ps (members of BIGBANG’s fandom) are hoping for at least one of those to be the full MADE album, whose release was scheduled for late 2015 but has since pushed back indefinitely.
All five of the men have expressed their endless gratitude and desire to continue making new music despite their mandatory military enlistments drawing near. T.O.P, the oldest member and the one most likely to enlist first, has said that he “truly expect[s] BIGBANG’s future after 20 and 30 years,” and G-Dragon closed the last concert of their MADE tour by saying, “I don’t know how much time’s left for us, but as long as you’re with us, we’ll always be with you too.”
