To further add to the excitement, Final Fantasy XV & S has released not only a cinematic film (Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV) which is the prequel to the story of the game, there is also an accompanying animated short series that follows Prince Noctis and his companions on their journey to reclaim the Kingdom of Lucis. The animated series was uploaded to the official Final Fantasy XV YouTube page and is a 5 episode series. The language is in Japanese however, for international fans, it is also uploaded with English subtitles. The following is a review of Final Fantasy’s animated series, Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV.

Episode 2: “Dogged Runner”

In the first episode of the short series, viewers and fans of Final Fantasy XV got to take a peek into Noctis’ backstory and the overall story of the game. In episode 2, this time it focuses on Noctis’ friend, Prompto. Prompto is one of the three who accompany Noctis on his journey to reclaim the Kingdom of Lucis.

The episode, goes back in time to when Prompto and Noctis were much younger and in grade school. This episode shows the origin story of how Noctis and Prompto became friends. As this is more centered around Prompto, it shows his development of his character, wanting to be someone better to be worthy of being friends with Prince Noctis. One of the recurring things that show up throughout the episode, is the appearances of dogs. If it weren’t for Prompto encountering a wounded puppy, who is revealed to be the puppy of Lunafreya, also Noctis’ fiancée, Prompto would have never thought of being friends with Noct.

This is a more lighthearted episode and rather endearing because the episode takes a step away from the dark story of Final Fantasy XV. It seems as if this short series is going to be focusing on each of the four main characters, raising anticipation of who’s story is going to be focused on in the next episode.

Once again, the animation and soundtrack leaves another great impression. As expected of Final Fantasy to further get fans excited to play the game!
