On Dec. 13, film producer and director Benson Lee announced via social media that his film, “Seoul Searching” (2015), will be premiering in over 100 countries on Netflix. It is Lee’s sixth film.
Set for release on Dec. 15, the film is a coming-of-age comedy set in 1986, with teenage angst and drama to boot. It follows a group of foreign-born Koreans who meet during a summer camp and features an all-Asian cast. At the time of its original release, “Seoul Searching” was the fourth Asian-American film in 30 years with wide distribution in theaters. This accomplishment comes at a pivotal time in media for people of color, as more consumers publicly express via social media their interest in diverse media.
The film is tentatively scheduled for release in early 2018 on Blue Ray. Will you be watching on Netflix?
