It seems Christmas is coming early for fans of pop-punk royalty, Fall Out Boy, and K-pop group BTS! The #RMxFallOutBoy hashtag began trending early afternoon on Thursday, Dec. 14, sending Twitter into a frenzy. It wasn’t long before the “Champion (Remix)” was found on both Spotify and Apple Music, with the notable, featuring RM of BTS.
Eshy Gazit, the head of BTS’ North American operations, tweeted earlier in the morning, sparking curiosity. ARMY, in true fashion, responded immediately with a number of humorous tweets using their favorite meme-able maknae, Jungkook. Even Bang PD wasn’t safe!
Gazit, meanwhile, seems to be taking lessons from Big Hit Entertainment, hiding clues in plain sight.
Pete Wentz and Fall Out Boy have long been the voice of a disjointed, not-sure-where-they-belong generation, evolving as their fans evolved. A collaboration with RM more than makes sense, as his own personal writings and many of the lyrics of BTS have a strong connection to the youth of today. With lines like “I’m just young enough to still believe, still believe. But young enough not to know what to believe in,” Fall Out Boy’s “Champion” is sure to provide RM with plenty of inspiration.
The remix version is now available worldwide. Listen and let us know what you think!
