On Feb. 4 2018, it was revealed that Sugisaki Hana will be playing the role of Kuchiki Rukia for the live-action film adaptation of the manga series “Kubo Tite‘s Bleach.” The news broke on the movie’s official Twitter.
For those who are unfamiliar with the series, “Bleach” focuses on the life of the young gifted high school student Kurosaki Ichigo , who partners up with Shinigami Rukia Kuchiki. Together they battle the supernatural in order to protect his town. Ichigo soon realizes that this new job isn’t all its cracked up to be and embarks on an adventure to rid the world of the evil that threatens not only his home, but the world.
Sugisaki recently stared in the movie “In The Hero” and will be a part of the new season of the drama series “Boys Over Flowers,” playing the role of Edogawa Oto.
In 2017, fans caught a glimpse of Fukushi Sota as Kurosaki Ichigo. This is not the first time the two actors have worked together. Fukushi and Sugisaki starred alongside one another in the 2017 samurai film “Blade of the Immortal.”
The film will be directed by Shinsuke Sato who had a hand in creating other well-known series like “GANTZ” and “I Am a Hero.” The movie will follow through the first eight volumes of the manga which will cover the “Substitute Shinigami Arc.”
Fans can expect to see “Bleach” hit theaters July 20, 2018.
