[Part 4] From The Writers, For The Writers: Rhys Ford

We asked three questions of several writers from all walks of life: What do you love about being a writer, what is one of your favorite things you’ve created and why, and what is something you wished more readers took into consideration about writing? Here is what they had to say.

Absolutely nothing. Okay, that’s a lie. What I really enjoy about being a writer is the stickiness of telling a story and the possibilities that are out there once you begin a character’s thread. The creation itself is an incredible process and then adding plotting is sublime.
Getting the words out? Hateful. So hateful. But … still, when it’s done, it’s good.
I would have to say I don’t know. I think every single encounter that I have is an experience and a good one. I would have to say my favorite contact that I’ve ever gotten was an email from a blogger who’d read the first chapter of “Dirty Kiss” and said that she had to email me immediately. That was Lisa Horan of the Novel Approach. That was the moment I found a sister through the Internet and an incredible friendship was born, complete with Albanese gummy bears.
I think the hardest thing is that we don’t have the time to tell all of the stories that we want to. It takes me months to write eighty-five thousand words which are only one book. And there are so many stories that I’d like to tell but I simply don’t have time. That said, I’m very grateful that people want more because that means I keep them entertained and that they look to me to share their time with and that’s extremely precious and important.
There are so many fantastic things readers have shared with me and I am so thankful to have them with me as I write.
