After a Northumberland adolescent girl was fatally stabbed, her family paid homage to their “much-loved daughter” as a 16-year-old boy was scheduled to appear in court on murder charges.
15-year-old Holly Newton was discovered hurt on Friday at around 5:10 p.m. in the Priestpopple neighbourhood of Hexham. After being transferred to the hospital, she sadly passed away there.
A teen guy of 16 was also transported to the hospital, although his injuries were not life threatening.
Another 16-year-old kid, also unnamed for legal reasons, will be appearing before magistrates in Newcastle today on charges of murder, attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon.
A “loving, lively, and effervescent” young lady.
Holly, a resident of Haltwhistle, a market town about 15 miles west of Hexham, has been honoured with a candlelight service at Hexham Abbey.
The family of Holly has released a statement paying respect to her.
They all gushed about how “bright and effervescent” Holly was, and how much she loved her numerous friends and family. The people who called her daughter, grandchild, sister, niece, or cousin adored her.
Everyone in Hexham and the rest of the North East liked Holly.
Northumbria Police have given this undated handout photo of 15-year-old Holly Newton, who was stabbed in Hexham, Northumberland, and for which a 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder.
According to her friends, Holly was a superb dancer who attended courses frequently and competed in events all across the United States.
“She had her whole life ahead of her, and we are still coming to grips with the reality that our lovely and loving child is no longer with us,” they continued.
Our hearts are broken, and our lives will never be the same without our sweet baby daughter.
All of your loved ones will miss you inexpressibly because of the impact you had on their lives.
In return for the outpouring of sympathy, Holly’s loved ones have requested some space and quiet to mourn in.
Officers will stay in the area for the next few days while the investigation continues, according to Northumbria Police.
This unfortunate occurrence has left Holly’s family distraught beyond words,” the police department said. In addition to providing any assistance we can, our thoughts are with the families and friends of everyone affected. They are, in fact, “a genuinely nice pupil.”
Holly attended Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham, and her alma mater also held a memorial service.
“We are in shock at the horrible events of Friday evening and grieved at the loss of Holly, a genuinely beautiful student who was quiet, conscientious, helpful, and kind,” the institution said.
Our hearts go out to Holly’s family during this terrible time. On Monday, we as a school community will gather to comfort one another in our time of loss.
