Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Our favorite Autobot is back in an all new spin-off.

If you’re hoping for a movie reminiscent of the “Transformers” from your childhood, “Bumblebee” may hit the spot. I can remember being thrilled when the “Transformers” universe first came to the big screen. Unfortunately, it only took a few movies for me to become disappointed with Michael Bay‘s directing. Hopefully, director Travis Knight’s vision for the spunky yellow Transformer will take the franchise back to its roots.

Knight’s work with beautiful films like “Coraline” and “Kubo and The Two Strings” speaks of attention to detail. It is easy to see that same attention in the trailer for “Bumblebee.” A young woman named Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfield) happens across Bumblebee in a junkyard and takes him home, thinking that he’s nothing more than a junked VW Beetle. She is shocked to find there’s more under the hood than meets the eye. A fast friendship is formed, but it’s not all sunshine. We see Bee running through a forest while someone shoots at him. It could be the Decepticons (the trailer hints at our favorite villain, Starscream)or perhaps a secret military agency.

John Cena appears as Agent Burns and will no doubt have a problem with alien robots running around on earth. However, he may be the last of Bee’s problems. Will the scrappy Autobot be able to protect the people that need him? Will this movie be the boost the franchise needs? Find out when “Bumblebee” rolls onto our screens summer 2019.
