It has been announced that Legendary, the studio responsible for movies such as Kong: Skull Island, Pacific Rim and Jurassic World has gained the rights to develop a live-action adaptation of the popular anime and manga series “My Hero Academia.”
This is not Legendary’s first trek into the Super Hero territory as they have produced movies for popular heroes like Batman and Superman.
While the cast and crew have yet to be announced, producers Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter will oversee the filming process. Ryosuke Yoritomi, a producer from the Japanese publishing company Shueisha is also going to work with Garcia and Ashenfelter to bring the movie to life.
Written by Kohei Horikoshi, “My Hero Academia” follows the life of Izuku Midoriya a young man living in a world of people with powers, or as their world calls it “quirks,” who dreams of becoming a hero like his idol the Symbol of Peace, All Might. Even when an unforeseen obstacle prevents this, Izuku continues to persevere and applies to the most well-known academy in the world filled with other students who have the same dreams of becoming a hero.
