This week’s installment of 1theK Random Play sheds some light on Tarin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy,” a duet with Peter Han. The music video was released May 4, 2018, and has currently garnered just shy of 22,000 views on 1theK’s official channel.

Who Are We Listening To:
Tarin, a former member of Shofar Music’s Acoustic Vanilla, has been turning out a steady round of coffeehouse/folk-style singles since leaving the group in 2015. She, along with Peter Han, currently releases music through Movement Generation. Peter Han was a contestant on season three of K-pop Star and officially debuted in late May 2017.

What’s A Hit:
“Don’t Worry Be Happy” is like a soft summer breeze — a light, stripped-down tune that makes its way through the house, the faint movement of curtains that you catch from the corner of your eye. The artists’ voices blend very well together, Han’s lower register is a lovely counterpart to Tarin’s sweet vocals. The lyrics, too, are simple and straightforward — sometimes it’s just nice to see someone having a good day!

What’s A Miss:
While a cute addition, the snapshots at the end of the music video seem oddly out of place. Also, Han’s demeanor in the music video is extremely wooden which detracts from the simple, relaxed vibe of the song.

1theK Random Play is a weekly feature for music videos posted to 1theK’s official YouTube channel. Chosen videos will have under 100,000 views and offer the opportunity for readers to be introduced to lesser-known Korean artists.
