On Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, BTS‘ “Mic Drop Remix” featuring Steve Aoki and Desiigner was certified Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Gold!
Just hours after reaching the achievement (and prior to the RIAA making the official announcement themselves), both Desiigner and Steve Aoki took to Twitter in celebration.

In order to achieve this milestone, an album must sell at least 500,000 copies, as stated by the RIAA standard. “Mic Drop” was released on Nov. 24, 2017, and the official music video has received over 145 million views on YouTube since then. This is the first time a K-pop group has ever reached this milestone and the second K-pop song to do so, following Psy‘s “Gangnam Style.”
Congrats to BTS, Steve Aoki and Desiigner!
