On May 2, Cube Entertainment debuted six-member girl group (G)I-DLE. Cube is home to other fantastic girl groups such as 4MINUTE and CLC, so it was no surprise that (G)I-DLE followed in the footsteps of the greats with a “tough girl” concept and seductive costumes.

Their debut music video “LATATA” shows that (G)I-DLE did not come to play.

“LATATA” comes from (G)I-DLE’s first mini album, “I am,” and provides listeners with everything from wavy beach vibes to powerful tunes, and while it takes a few listens to nail down the ebbs and flows between the chorus and bridge, it transforms into a powerful bop.

The first eye-catching aspect of the music video for “LATATA” comes from the costuming. Fishnets, oh fishnets galore. While each member still holds a separate, distinctive style, their get-ups flow together to create an air of absolute domination. Each article of clothing is a statement piece and the statement is clear: (G)I-DLE is here, and they’re here to stay.

The second characteristic that made the MV stand out so much was the set design. There were so many transitions, it was a little difficult to keep track of it all. From dancing in front of large speakers to red motorcycles to pink horses, “LATATA” had it all.

Be sure to keep an eye out for future comebacks from (G)I-DLE!
