Kyrie Irving of the Nets defends his remark against an anti-Semitic movie by saying, “I won’t back down.”

Kyrie Irving, a Brooklyn Nets player, tweeted a link to a documentary that was deemed to be antisemitic late on Thursday. He afterwards tweeted an apology and said he accepted full responsibility for his actions.

After the Nets imposed a five-game penalty for his later defence of his choice, the NBA player apologised on his verified Instagram account hours later.

Irving wrote, “To any Jewish families and communities who have been injured and affected by my post, I am really sorry to have caused you anguish and I apologise.” “At first, I responded emotionally to being falsely accused of being anti-Semitic rather than putting my attention on helping my Jewish brothers and sisters who were wounded by the divisive comments in the documentary.

Anti-Defamation League declines Irving’s contribution

After making a joint donation of $500,000 to anti-hate organisations on Wednesday, Irving and the Nets made that media appearance.

The 30-year-old claimed he accepted “responsibility” for the “bad impact” his post had on the Jewish community in a previous joint statement with the Nets, the Anti-Defamation League, and Irving.

However, Greenblatt said on Twitter on Thursday night, following the announcement of the ban, that the ADL could not “in good faith accept” Irving’s donation.

“(Irving) has had numerous opportunities to act honourably, express regret, and denounce anti-Semitism. Nearly every step of the road has ended in failure for him. Greenblatt stated, “This suspension is merited. “After watching the disaster of a news conference, it’s evident that Kyrie feels no responsibility for his actions.

After an anti-Semitic movie post, the Nets permanently suspend Kyrie Irving.

The Nets suspended Irving for a minimum of five games last week after he posted a link to an anti-Semitic film. Irving did not apologise for his actions until hours later.
Guard Kyrie Irving was placed on indefinite suspension by the Nets on Thursday after refusing to certify that he does not hold any antisemitic views in the week following his posting a link to a movie with derogatory remarks about Jews on Twitter. The team described Irving as “unfit to be associated” with the team.

The Nets released a statement saying that such behaviour that fails to denounce antisemitism when given a clear opportunity to do so is “very distressing,” goes against our organization’s principles, and constitutes conduct harmful to the franchise.

Continuing his divisive post, Kyrie Irving declares, “I’m not going to stand down.”

In a contentious conversation with the media on Saturday night, Kyrie Irving doubled down and defended not only his most recent social media tweets endorsing a film that is widely perceived as anti-Semitic but also earlier ones highlighting conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

The NBA issued a statement in response to Irving’s late-week posts, and Nets owner Joe Tsai publicly criticised him. However, neither the league nor the team were able to persuade Irving to remove or even slightly lower his original position. And following the Nets’ most recent defeat, a 125-116 hammering at the hands of the Pacers at Barclays Center, he swore not to.
