Philippe Streiff, a former Formula 1 podium finisher, passed away at the age of 67. The Frenchman raced for Renault, Ligier, Tyrrell, and AGS during his F1 career, which lasted from 1984 until a preseason testing accident in 1989 that ended his racing career. He made 53 F1 race starts during that time.

In only his sixth F1 start, he finished third in the 1985 season finale in Adelaide, earning his first F1 podium. Before that, he competed in Formula Two and was a member of the class-winning team in the 1981 Le Mans 24 Hours. In the middle the to late 1980s, Philippe Streiff showed some promise as a driver. However, a paralyzing testing unfortunate incident in Rio in 1989 cruelly ended his F1 career. He was racing at the time for the small AGS team, where he had established his reputation in F2 and had returned when the company made the transition to F1 in 1988.

In reality, he made his Formula One start in a 3rd Renault in Estoril after 1984. He earned third in the final season in 1985 while filling in for the dismissed Andrea de Cesaris at Ligier, but he did it on three wheels after crashing with teammate Jacques Laffite.
