The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man in connection with the shooting of four individuals this morning on Crane Street in Eureka’s Pine Hill neighborhood, leaving two people dead and two others injured. Based on a news release, a 4-year-old child was present but was unharmed.

The Suspect Of The Eureka Shooting
Russell Martin Albers, a 41-year-old resident of McKinleyville, has been named as the suspect. His current whereabouts are unknown. Residents are urged to phone 911 to report his whereabouts if they spot him. He is the subject of a double homicide warrant. According to the HCSO, Albers was detained on October 30 on suspicion of violence against a spouse or cohabitant.

Deputies reported finding three injured when they arrived, but a man and a woman passed away there. Another woman had urgent surgery after being brought to a hospital. After being inspected, the youngster was given to Child Welfare Services. Later, the HCSO was informed that the suspect had delivered another female gunshot victim to a hospital. She had surgery, and her health is stable. On December 27, at 12:12 a.m., someone called 911 claiming to hear a child screaming and adults shouting. According to the announcement, a report of a shooting arrived while deputies were on their route.
Soon after midnight on Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies from Humboldt County rescued an unharmed 4-year-old from the Eureka residence. The 911 call that sent deputies to the house had the child’s screaming audible in the background, the department claimed in a news release. According to Stephen Brown, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, the two adults who died were the child’s parents.

About the incident, Russell Martin Albers is wanted, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release. The link between Albers and the victims from Tuesday is still under investigation. According to Brown, witnesses recognized him as the shooter. The names of the deceased victims have not been made public.
