The news of Naomi Osaka’s pregnancy has been made public. The tennis pro revealed the news on social media on Wednesday along with an ultrasound photograph and a statement in English and Japanese that looked back on her tennis career and the life lessons she’s learned.
Her Statement
To put it mildly, the last few years have been fascinating, but she observed, “I feel that (it’s) the most difficult periods in life that may be the most enjoyable.”
“These several months away from the sport have actually made me love and appreciate it more than ever before. I am aware of how brief life is and I try not to take any of it for granted. Everyday is a blessing and an adventure.
I know I have a lot to look forward to in the future, but one thing I enjoy thinking about is when my child watches one of my matches and says, “That’s my mom,” hehe.
Back Off From Australian Open
The announcement was made three days after two-time champion Osaka said she will not be competing in the Australian Open. She stated in the letter that she intended to return for the Australian Open in 2024.
Among those who wished Osaka well were tennis great Billie Jean King, who said “Congratulations from both of us!” on the initial Twitter post. Ilana Kloss, a former professional tennis player, is King’s wife.

Osaka Dating Cordae
Rapper Cordae and Osaka have been dating since 2019. He has not yet made a public announcement regarding pregnancy.
Osaka withdrew from the French Open in May 2021 after skipping the post-match press conferences and citing the need to look after her mental health as the reason. She declared she will take a vacation from tennis in September of that year, with no specific comeback date.
