A statement was issued by Cindy Williams’ children Emily Hudson and Zak Hudson confirming their mother’s death at the age of 75. Her breakout role was on the ABC sitcom “Laverne & Shirley,” which aired for a decade, from 1976 to 1983. Shirley on Laverne & Shirley, a sitcom created by Penny Marshall and starring Cindy Williams. Williams starred in almost 150 episodes but departed the programme during its last season following an apparent clash with Ms Marshall, who also passed away in 2018 at the age of 75. Her children have written a statement explaining what ultimately caused her death. After just a few short days in the hospital, she passed away on Monday.

Cindy Williams’s cause of death was confirmed in a statement issued by Liza Cranis, the Williams family’s official spokeswoman. On behalf of Cindy’s children, Liza Cranis issued a statement saying their mother was sick. Her family and the spokesman have not provided any other information.

Cindy Williams made her acting debut in the sitcom that would ultimately define her career after being cast in the George Lucas film American Graffiti (1973). Her portrayal of Laurie earned her a nod for best supporting actress at the British Academy Film Awards. The next year, she was in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Conversation,” which, like “American Graffiti,” was nominated for an Academy Award for best picture. Williams also tried out for the role of Princess Leia opposite Carrie Fisher in the “Star Wars” movies.

Cynthia “Cindy” Williams was born to Francesca and Beachard Williams on August 22, 1947, in Van Nuys, Los Angeles County, California. It has been said that Cindy’s mother was a waitress and that her father worked as an electronics expert. Williams wed musician/actor Bill Hudson in 1982. The two reportedly met during a celebrity baseball game while shooting Laverne & Shirley.

Zak and Emily Hudson were the offspring of Hudson and Williams. The actress fell pregnant with their first child, Emily, while shooting the seventh season of Laverne & Shirley. Upon Cindy’s departure, her two daughters issued a statement that said, “The loss of our wonderful, humorous mother, Cindy Williams, has given us overwhelming pain that could never properly be conveyed.”

Knowing and loving her has been our delight and privilege,” the statement said. She was one-of-a-kind in every way: stunningly gorgeous, very giving, hilariously smart, and incredibly charismatic.
