According to recently obtained data from the medical examiner, the reason for musician Irene Cara’s passing has been identified. Prior to the 25th of November, when he passed away at the age of 63, the Oscar and Grammy winner’s cause of death remained a mystery. He had won both awards.
According to fresh medical examiner papers from the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center that The Independent reviewed, Cara passed away from Arteriosclerotic and Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease, with Diabetes Mellitus noted as a contributing disease.
Because her cause of death was determined to be natural, there was no need for an autopsy or a toxicology report to be carried out. On November 26, the tragic news of Cara’s passing was shared on the social media platform Twitter via her official account.

She “died away at her Florida home,” the message stated, adding that “it is with tremendous regret that, on behalf of her family, I announce the demise of Irene Cara.” It said, “Irene’s family has asked privacy as they mourn their loss at this difficult time.” She was an extraordinarily talented spirit, and her films and music will ensure that her legacy endures in perpetuity.
Cara became famous for singing and co-writing the song “Flashdance… What a Feeling,” which was featured on the soundtrack of the film Flashdance, which was released in 1983.
She went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song for her contribution on the tune, which she accepted during the ceremony. Cara was also well-known for her performance as Coco Hernandez in the 1980 musical film Fame and for her major part in the 1967 musical drama Sparkle. Both of these roles were musical comedies.
Her work in the film “Fame” earned her a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, and the iconic song “Flashdance” won her two Grammys. The first was for “Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or a Television Special” (which she shared with the other songwriters) and the second was for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.” Both awards were presented to her in 2002.
