About Brandi Marie Carlie
Carlile’s birthplace was the sleepy village of Ravensdale, Washington, south of Seattle. She decided to pursue a career in music instead of finishing high school, so she trained herself to play the piano and guitar. Her debut album for a big label, Brandi Carlile (2005), was favourably praised by reviewers but underperformed commercially. Carlile gained additional attention with the release of her hit track “The Story,” taken from the album of the same name. In 2017, after selling over 500,000 copies, The Story was certified Gold by the RIAA. Carlile’s Cover Stories was released the same same year. In total, 14 different musicians covered songs from the original The Story album, including Adele, Pearl Jam, and Dolly Parton. The Billboard 200 charted it as the 30th best new entry.
The entire sum was donated to Conflict Child UK, a charity that aids children whose lives have been disrupted as a result of war. Carlile’s fifth studio album, The Firewatcher’s Daughter, peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and earned her a nomination for Best Americana Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards. Her newest album, By the Way, I Forgive You, was released in February of 2018 and has been met with critical acclaim and commercial success. To date, this is her most successful album in terms of sales, since it opened at position No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Billboard’s list of the year’s best rock albums similarly placed it at the top spot. Her seventh studio album, In These Silent Days, debuted at number eleven on the Billboard 200 list and number one on the Top Rock Albums and Top Folk Albums charts, respectively. Reviews were positive, and the book sold well.
