Ryan Shepard, who previously worked as a body double for Eminem, passed away at the age of 40 after getting involved in a collision with a vehicle while he was walking.
At around 2:45 a.m. local time on January 31, Shepard entered the junction of Olympia Street and 14th Avenue in Kennewick, Washington. According to the Tri-City Herald, Shepard was hit by a pickup vehicle travelling in the southbound direction as he entered the crossing.
Ryan Shepard was taken to the hospital immediately after the accident occurred, but he did not survive his stay there. He was pronounced dead there a short time later. The driver, who remained at the site of the collision and was cooperative with law enforcement officials while they investigated it, did not exhibit any signs of drunkenness.
Shepard’s brother Kyle verified the information to TMZ on Sunday (February 12), stating that the individual in issue was in fact the same person who had collaborated with Eminem in the early 2000s.
Ryan Shepard has done a number of things for Em, including acting as the rapper’s stunt double and portraying the rapper’s superhero alter ego, Rap Boy, at the MTV Movie Awards in 2002. During the Anger Management Tour in 2002, Shepard was also on the road with members of the Shady Records staff.
Later on, he would accompany Eminem on two further tours around Europe and Asia, and he would also make an appearance in the music video for D12’s song “Purple Hills.”
According to sources in Mirror, Ryan Shepard was able to achieve success in the field of information technology despite his early involvement in the entertainment sector.
Who is this man Ryan?
On his LinkedIn profile, he called himself a “Creative Engineer with a passion for Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Automation.” He also mentioned that he enjoyed writing. “Experienced in Machining and Prototype Fabrication,” with other areas of competence including “Mechanical Engineering Design & Analysis, Automation, Robotics, and Programming.”
On his resume, he highlighted his experience working as a ride mechanical engineer for Disney and as a test automation engineer for SpaceX, the firm founded by Elon Musk. At the time of his passing, he was working as a freelance lead animatronics engineer for the California-based company Garner Holt Productions. This company is responsible for the creation of animatronic figures and themed displays for locations such as attractions, museums, retail stores, and restaurants.
Two children, ages 11 and 7, are left behind by Ryan Shepard after his passing. Eminem, who is not particularly active on social media these days, had not remarked on the devastating loss as of the time this article was written.
