Timberwolves and Louisville Men’s Basketball Team is mourning for the loss of their most valued player Felton Spencer who died at the age of 55. The cause of death of the veteran player is not yet ascertained.
Felton Spencer was chosen sixth overall by the Timberwolves in the 1990 NBA Draft, Minnesota’s second year as an NBA franchise. Felton spent his three seasons with Minnesota, after that he spent ten seasons with the Magic, Knicks, Warriors, Jazz, and Spurs.
The Louisville Men’s Basketball Team announced Felton Spencer’s death through their Twitter account. They quoted, “We’re heartbroken by the passing of UofL great Felton Spencer. Spencer was the Cardinals’ all-time leader in career field goal percentage, the 6th overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft, & a beloved member of the Louisville community. Our thoughts & prayers are with his loved ones.”
Felton Spencer was selected for the All-Rookie second team in 1990-91 and Felton finished off the league with a rank of seventh after 272 offensive rebounds. Before his record, Moses Malone and Hall of Famers Robert Parrish had 271 offensive rebounds. The highest number of offensive rebounds was scored by Dennis Rodman, who scored 361 offensive rebounds in the league.

Felton LaFrance Spencer officially known as Felton Spencer was born on 5th January 1968. He was an American Professional Basketball player who was the center for Minnesota Timberwolves, National Basketball Association (NBA), Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, and Orlando Magic from 1990-2002.
In 2011, Spencer became an assistant basketball coach at Spalding University. He was later an assistant basketball coach at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.
His NBA Career Statistics include 3354 Points, 3436 Rebounds, and 534 Blocks.

Felton Spencer died at the age of 55 on March 12, 2023. Her youngest sister Tammy Pollock tweeted about Spencer’s death and ascertained that he died peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky. Tammy quoted that “Our beloved Felton Spencer – former @uofl basketball legend, retired 12-year NBA veteran and 6th pick in the 1990 NBA draft, and former assistant college coach – passed away peacefully this afternoon.”

She further added that “It was befitting that he received excellent care in his final hours from the providers at the University of Louisville Hospital, his Alma mater that he loved so dearly.”
Felton Spencer was undergoing treatment at the University of Louisville Hospital during his final hours.
Tammy Pollock further tweeted, “Our family thanks them and everyone who participated in his care. We are proud of all he did on the court and in his personal life. He was a kind, gentle giant whose physical presence will be sorely missed. While we are heartbroken, we are comforted by your thoughts and prayers.”
The Louisville Men’s Basketball Team head coach Kenny Payne also penned a heartfelt note about Felton that he is deeply devastated by his dear brother’s demise and extended condolences to Spencer’s mother Betty, his sisters, and brothers.
