Becky G was born Rebecca Marie Gomez on March 2, 1997, in Inglewood, California to Mexican-American parents Alejandra and Francisco Gomez. Due to financial difficulties, she and her family had to move out of their Moreno Valley home and into the garage of her grandparents. She made the decision to pursue music professionally and provide for her family at the tender age of nine. She had to drop out of school due to bullying and start learning at home. Becky G’s first film roles were in 2008’s “El Tux” and 2010’s “La Estación de la Calle Olvera” (2008). She joined the all-female ensembles GLAM and BCG and started making music videos and albums. Most of Becky G’s videos on YouTube were covers of well-known songs. At the age of 13, she taught herself how to play the guitar. After being heard by a production team called The Jam, she started collaborating with them on songwriting. A record deal was offered to her after the famous producer Dr. Luke heard her rendition of the song “Otis.”
Becky G’s track “Shower” (2014), which she wrote and sang herself, peaked in the top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list because to her perseverance and originality. It was certified double platinum and received several accolades. Can’t Stop Dancing, Love’ So Hard, and Break a Sweat were her following three songs to be released. She then starred in the critically acclaimed television series “Empire” and went on tour with J. Balvin afterward. Becky G and Lletget announced their engagement on December 9, 2022, three days before the alleged infidelity scandal broke. With the description, “Our spot forever.,” she shared a series of photographs documenting the proposal.
The couple has never been bashful about showing their love for one another on social media. In June of 2016, friends paired the couple up, and they instantly felt a deep connection to one another. Becky G posted a reflection on their first date from 2017 on Instagram, saying, “On our first date, we discussed the stars and planets in great detail. I’ll never forget the date where we stuffed our faces with sushi and shared our hopes for the future; we’re currently working towards every single one of those things we discussed. It’s insane how quickly time has passed. I really respect that you stick to what you say.”
