After Sunday’s automobile accident with a tram, Lazio captain Ciro Immobile remained hospitalised for observation. On Sunday morning, Immobile and his family drove through Rome when their automobile collided with a tram.
The forward for Italy and Lazio was videotaped following the collision claiming, “the tram ran a red light” and that he was otherwise alright save from minor arm ache. Lazio later confirmed that Immobile suffered a broken rib and a “spinal trauma” and was still under observation after he and his two girls had been transported to the hospital. Immobile, 33, is doubtful to play in the forthcoming games against Torino and Inter Milan. This year, he has scored 10 goals for Lazio in the league, including a penalty kick in Friday’s 3-0 victory against Spezia. Despite being 14 points behind league-leading Napoli, Lazio is now in second place in Serie A and has a decent chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
Who is Ciro Immobile?
Ciro Immobile, born on February 20, 1990, is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Lazio and the Italian national team. He made his debut with Sorrento. After being signed by Juve in 2009, he spent time on loan at three different Serie B clubs, including Pescara, where he finished as the league’s leading scorer, before permanently moving to Genoa in 2012.
Career of Ciro Immobile
Immobile, born in Torre Annunziata, a suburb of Naples, began his football career at the “Torre Annunziata ’88” school before moving on to “Maria Rosa” and then the Salernitana youth squad, where he could not make the cut. Later, he moved on to Sorrento, where he impressed scouts from Juventus by scoring 30 goals for the under-17 team in 2007–08, including a pair against Torino.
After being recommended by Ciro Ferrara, Juventus signed him in 2008 at 18 for €80,000. He eventually joined the Primavera lineup. In 2009, Immobile joined the Primavera team and, along with Ayub Daud, established a potent offensive duo that helped them win the Torneo di Viareggio. Immobile scored five goals in the tournament, including two in the championship game.
Lazio star Ciro Immobile hospitalized
Ciro Immobile, captain of Lazio, was involved in an automobile accident early Sunday in Rome. The automobile the Italian player was riding with his family was severely damaged after colliding with a tram.
Immobile was videotaped shortly after the accident as indicating that the tram had ran a red light, but that other than minor arm soreness, he was fine. Immobile and his two kids went to the doctor after experiencing some emergency, and it was discovered that he had broken ribs and “spinal trauma.” To monitor his condition, he stayed in the hospital.
Lazio said that Immobile has a spinal deformation injury and a complex fracture of his right XI rib. According to the statement, the player is in stable condition and will continue to be monitored at the Agostino Gemelli IRCCS University Polyclinic in Rome.
Seven other tram riders were also checked out at the hospital. Lazio’s forthcoming matches against Torino and Inter Milan are ones that Immobile is not anticipated to play in due to his injury. The team has taken a serious hit. With 10 league goals this season, including a penalty kick in Lazio’s 3-0 win against Spezia on Friday, Immobile has been a key cog in their success.
Lazio are now second in Serie A, 14 points behind league leaders Napoli, and in a good position to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
