According to reports, it is being told that former Port Alberni city councilor Helen Poon died due to a car accident on January 4, 2024. She died in New Zealand. On 30 December 2023 she was driving an Audi TT 1.8t on State Highway (SH) 50 south of Hastings. Her vehicle met with an accident at the intersection of Marekakaho Road. After that she was admitted to the hospital but due to serious injuries on her body, she died on January 4, 2024. After her death, her family and friends got a deep shock. Her friends are paying tribute to her on social media and praying to God that her soul rest in peace.
