According to Nate Campos, a spokesman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, actor Julian Sands, renowned for appearances in the movies A Room With a View and Warlock, was reported missing on Friday after trekking in California’s San Gabriel Mountains earlier in the day.
According to authorities, Sands, a 65-year-old North Hollywood resident, went missing in the Baldy Bowl region of Mount Baldy around 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Despite the start of a search, ground workers were removed from the mountain Saturday night owing to avalanche dangers and treacherous path conditions brought on by snow and ice.
As weather permitted, search efforts were maintained using helicopters and drones, and ground workers will pick up their work when it is safe to do so. Due to hazardous hiking conditions, the sheriff’s department, which is collaborating with the Forest Service to locate Sands, advises people to avoid the area.
The sheriff’s department reported that 14 rescue missions were necessary over the previous four weeks due to the weather, and that two hikers lost their lives during that time. THR has contacted Sands’ team for additional information.
