Billy Coile Was Missing
Billy Coile had been gone since Sunday when the boat was found on Lake Pontchartrain drifting near the 23-mile marker (Jan. 8). According to the owner of the boat, Coile reportedly took the boat on Saturday to just go fishing (Jan. 7). At 8:30 on Sunday morning, the empty boat was reportedly spotted drifting beneath the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, according to the authorities. The car owned by Coile was discovered parked in Mandeville Harbor. The Coast Guard, the St. Tammany Parish Police Department, and the Louisiana Office of Wildlife and Fisheries searched for Coile across 230 nautical miles from land and water.

The investigation has been discontinued, based on an assertion from Coast Guard personnel on Monday evening. According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, the body of Billy Coile, 44, was discovered on Monday afternoon about three-quarters of a mile offshore, close to Green Point as well as the east side of Mandeville. The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s office received the body, and there the reason and manner of death will be established.
