Australian boxer Harry Garside, accused of domestic assault, has pledged to fight the charges. The 25-year-old was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon upon his return to Sydney Airport from South Africa, where he had competed in and placed second in the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity… Help! I’m Trapped In Here! He was granted bail and freed on certain conditions.
On Wednesday, he issued a statement vowing to clear his name and fight the accusation. Garside posted on Instagram, “I categorically deny the allegations of violence and dispute the account given to police.” I have nothing to conceal and want to fight this accusation in court.
The police don’t have all the information, but I have faith that justice will prevail and clear my name. Since this is pending in the courts, I will have no further comment. Early reports said Garside had been charged with DV (domestic violence) for an incident involving his ex-girlfriend, and the police have now verified those reports.
On May 24 he will go before a judge in Downing Centre Local Court. Police in New South Wales said, “Last month, officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command began an investigation into reports of an alleged domestic violence-related incident at Bellevue Hill on Wednesday, 1 March 2023.”An investigation led to the detention of a 25-year-old man at Sydney International Airport at around 2.40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. He was arrested and booked at Mascot Police Station on suspicion of domestic violence. He has been released on bail with an appearance date of May 24, 2023, before Downing Centre Local Court. News Corp reports that Garside allegedly elbowed and spat at Ashley Ruscoe after their breakup.
Harry Garside Arrested
Australian boxer Harry Garside has questioned the police’s actions following his dramatic arrest on Tuesday at the airport. NSW Police met Garside at Sydney Airport on Tuesday, and after interviewing him about domestic violence claims, he was charged with common assault.
After coming in second place on the reality TV show I’m a Celebrity…, Garside and his father Shaun were returning home to Los Angeles from Johannesburg.I Need to Escape from South Africa!
When reporters waited for Garside outside Mascot Police Station, he responded, “Of course,” when asked by Channel 7 if he planned to fight the charges. On Wednesday, he provided another update on the situation through Instagram, claiming that law enforcement lacks key information.
He said he was “completely taken aback” by the police’s behavior “in the presence of media” at Sydney International Airport the day before.
Who is Harry Garside?
Australia’s own Harry Garside is a boxer, and he is from Ferntree Gully, Victoria. On July 22, 1997, he entered the world. He’s the youngest of three brothers, and he freely confesses that he was always closer to their mother than to their “blokey” father, Shaun. His older brothers, Josh and Jack, are also brothers. In an interview with Better Homes & Gardens, he admits that he formerly “played a role to be a masculine man but deep down it wasn’t me.”
Some of Harry Garside’s favourite boxers, such as Muhammad Ali and Vasiliy Lomachenko, are depicted on a full-leg sleeve tattoo he recently got. He thinks highly of them not only as boxers and sportsmen, but as people in general.
Career as a Boxer for Harry Garside
Harry Garside, who didn’t identify as a man, decided at the age of 9 that he wanted to try boxing and quickly became enamoured with the sport. Taking up boxing helped him “find out who I am,” he adds. “It gave me self-love, discipline, and self-care.”
After deciding to make boxing his life’s work, Garside enrolled in the Lilydale Youth Club. It didn’t have a great beginning, though, as he lost more matches than he won at first. Ten of his first eighteen were defeats, but that didn’t dampen his will to keep battling. His underdog mindset and determination were further fueled by the setbacks.
Recently, Garside has joined the ranks of rising young Australian fighters Tim and Nikita Tszyu (sons of former world champion Kostya Tszyu), Sam Goodman, and Paulo Aokuso under the promotion No Limit Boxing.
