Who was Maria Cummins?
Pat Cummins, the captain of the Australian cricket team, was born to Maria Cummins. In 2011, at the tender age of 18, Cummins played in his first Test match. Afterwards, due to injury, he was sidelined until 2017 from Test cricket and 2015 from international competition. In the wake of the 2019 cricket season, Cummins was honoured with two prestigious awards. He was named the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and also took home Australia’s top honour, the Allan Border Medal.
On November 26, 2021, Cummins became the 47th captain in the history of the Australian Test Cricket Team.
