The coroner’s office released a statement on Friday saying DNA testing was used to identify the bodies. On February 6, after finishing the DNA analysis, the results were uploaded to the national genetics database Combined DNA Index System (CODIS).
The next day, CODIS reported a tentative match, which was verified the day before yesterday. Daryl D. Jenkins, 38 at the time of his disappearance in July 2022, has been positively confirmed as the body’s owner. The Picayune, Mississippi, Police Department reports that Jenkins has been missing since the month of September. His family has been notified by the Picayune Police Department.
