Adams was taken into the Grady County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday afternoon, at which point OSBI made the arrest public. The sheriff’s office claims that Adams and her husband were caring for Athena and her sister at the time of her abduction. Today at 4 p.m., community volunteers helped the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Emergency Response Team search. In a subsequent statement published by the OSBI on Wednesday afternoon, it was stated that the volunteers had been freed following a thorough search of the whole town, every known vacant home, and surrounding waterways. Athena went missing on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. after a postal worker saw her 5-year-old sister alone outside of their Cyril, Oklahoma, home, which is about 70 miles from Oklahoma City. Despite claiming to be afraid, the older girl did not need medical attention.
