It has been discovered what the last text Nicola Bulley sent before she “vanished into thin air” was about the missing dog walker.
The 45-year-old was last seen on Friday, January 27 near St. Michael’s on Wyre, Lancashire, while walking her dog along the river. When her phone was located, she was in the middle of a Microsoft Teams call that had concluded at 9:30 a.m.
The mother of two had only messaged her acquaintance half an hour ago to arrange a playdate. Villagers were told that she sent the message at 8:57 a.m., just before she logged into the Teams call. On this particular Friday morning, Ms. Bulley had just dropped off her two young kids, ages six and nine, at their respective schools.
A sighting of Ms. Bulley was last reported at 9:10 a.m. Around 25 minutes later, a seat by the river was discovered with her phone and the dog’s harness still attached to it. Willow, her springer spaniel, seemed worried.
From the looks of the photographs she often shared with Willow from her Strava account, she ran by the river on the day she disappeared.
Thirty minutes would be the typical time it would take her to finish her usual trip and get back to her car. The family says she parked in the same area “a thousand times over” the years.
Back in November, Ms. Bulley had posted on Facebook about how her morning dog walk was a “little frightening” due to the wintry weather. This morning’s stroll was quite misty and chilly; it’s not a good idea to leave your gloves at home. A little creepy, too!” she said. Willow was having a blast because you prepared me for the day.
Christine Bowman, 67, a resident of the small Lancashire town where she disappeared, told the Daily Mirror that the local ladies are “fearful of venturing out” since her disappearance.
Fear among local women is a direct result of this. “If they have spouses or partners, they’ve been bringing the dogs out instead,” Ms. Bowman, a retired educator, said.
Although there are many “unanswered questions” concerning the case, Lancashire Police have asked the public to refrain from spreading incorrect information, speculation, and rumours.
Ms. Bulley has been missing for some time, and her family is desperate for answers. We must have overlooked something vital. Louise Cunningham, her sister, told Sky News that “someone must know something.” No one “disappears” into thin air.
According to Ernie Bulley, Nicola’s father, Nicola’s little girls think it’s “just a matter of time” until their mom gets back.
We want Nicola back too, of course, but she has two small kids waiting for her at home who are counting on her. The only thing we can say is, “Come home, call the police, contact ourselves, and we simply want you back,” Mr. Bulley added, if she is watching this.
Officers diving into the Wyre River below the bench where Ms. Bulley’s belongings were discovered had come up empty.
Lancashire Police have said that they are not investigating the disappearance as a criminal matter, but rather as a missing person’s case.
