According to ESPN, police spokeswoman Karen Boudrie confirmed that the New Orleans Police Department had issued an arrest warrant for former UFC star Nate Diaz on Monday for the crime of second-degree violence.
Boudrie stated that Diaz is currently at large. Last week, after a Misfits boxing night in the city, Diaz got into a fight on Bourbon Street. A video of what seems to be Diaz choking YouTube star Rodney Petersen unconscious during a brawl with several others leaked over the weekend on social media.
After receiving a report of a “large altercation” on the 400 block of Bourbon Street at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Saturday morning, police officers responded. Witnesses reportedly called police about a Caucasian male who appeared unconscious, as Boudrie reported. When he came to, cops saw “bleeding from the back of his head,” as Boudrie put it. A medical team was dispatched to help the man.
A warrant for Nate Diaz’s arrest was issued during the investigation, Boudrie stated. The charges against him said, “He has been charged with second-degree battery.”

Diaz primarily fought for World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) after making his professional MMA debut there. He challenged then-champion Hermes França for the WEC Lightweight Championship at WEC 24 in 2006, but was submitted in the second round. Diaz won via submission in the preliminary round against Rob Emerson, and he won via submission in the first round against Corey Hill, another member of Team Pulver. Diaz advanced to the championship match, where he met fellow teammate Manvel Gamburyan after submitting Grey Maynard in the semi-finals. Diaz won by submission when Gamburyan dislocated his right shoulder trying a takedown in the second round, forcing him to submit out. Diaz won season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter with this victory.
