Anthony Ciccone, Madonna’s older brother, passed away yesterday at the age of 66, a member of his family shared the news with the media.
According to reports, Ciccone, who was one of the celebrity’s seven siblings, passed suddenly late on Friday night.
It was said that he had a history of drunkenness and that he had been homeless for a considerable amount of time, at one point even living beneath a bridge.
On Instagram, the news was broken by his brother-in-law Joseph Henry, who wrote that he had “exited this earthly plane” beside an old black-and-white photo of him.
Henry, a singer-songwriter who is married to Madonna’s sister Melanie Ciccone, says in an essay that “I’ve known him since I was 15, in the bloom of our lives in Michigan so many years now gone.”
The cause of his death has not yet been revealed.
The music singer Madonna has not made any public statements regarding the death of Ciccone; nevertheless, she liked the post on Joe Henry’s Instagram account that broke the news. Madonna and her other siblings spent their childhood in the city of Detroit, located in the state of Michigan. Ciccone remained in Michigan when she relocated to New York in 1978 so that she could pursue a career in dance and music.
They were quite young when their mother passed away in 1963 due to complications from breast cancer. Brother-in-law Henry describes Ciccone as a “complex character” in the caption of one of his Instagram posts.
“God is aware that there were times when we butted heads, as brothers do. “But I was in love with him, and despite the fact that I wasn’t always willing to show it, I understood him better than I sometimes let on. Yet the difficulties pass, and the family stays put, with hands still reaching across the table. I’ll see you around, Anthony, my brother.
“I would like to believe that the deity in whom both your blessed mother and I placed our faith is the one who has her there, ready to welcome you. Nobody will be able to convince me otherwise about my goal at least for the rest of today.”
Ciccone got separated from his family and had previously lashed out at them, accusing them of not caring about him. This led to the family becoming estranged from Ciccone.
“In their views, I am a non-person equivalent to the number zero. I’m an embarrassment, “In 2011, he stated to the Daily Mail that.
If I perished as a result of hypothermia, my loved ones probably wouldn’t find out or care for at least half a year.
Later, in 2017, it was reported that he had finished a treatment programme at a rehabilitation facility and had reestablished contact with his family.
